Default Keyless Entry System

Hi everyone!

I'm new here and I signed up because I need information and advice. I have a 2002 Civic LX that did not come with a keyless entry system and I need one! According to my research, Honda discontinued the 2002 keyless entry system for Civics. Does anyone know why? Also, does anyone know where I can purchase a good keyless entry system (preferably by Honda)? How about Viper (Best Buy carries it)?

Thanks!

Its not that they discontinued it, but I think it was offerred only as an option. So it looks like you can pick up the keyless entry system fromhttp://www.hondaautomotiveparts.comfor 118 bucks. If you can install it yourself go for it or find a friend that is good with electronics. I dont know how complex the installation would be, but hopefully this info helps.

Thank you. I will definitely check this link out. However, just a quick search for a keyless entry system for an 2002 Civic on the site, I noticed the search results only returns a system that does not specifiy what year it is for. I'm not sure if all Civic keyless entry systems will work for any year (I doubt it or else the honda dealer would've installed for me whatever they had). I will call to find out. Thanks for the info and your reply.

if you go up to parts online. and followthe choose model drop down menu, and put in the rest of your info you will get to a page. type in the part name (keyless entry) in the search and it does a search specifically for your car make yearand model and trim. I already did this for your car andfound it so it should be the right one.

Alright a little update. I talked with a few friends of mine and they saidbehind the dash where the accessory outlet is there should be a keyless entry module box if you have it already in the car and just didnt get the remotes. It should have the fcc code onthe moduleand you should match that with the code on a remote if you need one.No little black box??... no keyless already installed. I was also told that honda discontinued that keyless system... so that site I gave you might not carry the kit and you may have to keep your eye out for one to pop up somewhere. good luck.
