Default keyhole in glovebox

I've got a 95 Civic LSI 4 door sedan. I'm in the UK but i figure this would be standard anyway. inside the glovebox at the back, there's a keyhole. off the back it has what looks like a cable, but i have no idea where it goes. the ignition key doesn't fit in it, so i can't move it...

anyone else have this and know what it's for?

its part of the ignition. like a relay... someone needs to step in and explain more. In my old nissan there was a key in it and if i pulled it out the car wouldnt start.
