Key Interlock System help
My wifes 2002 Honda Civic (EX 2 Door Automatic) had a problem today where she couldn't get the key out of the ignition. She took it to the dealer, and they told her it was a solenoid and ordered the part for her.
Long story short, I look at the parts they ordered, and they ordered parts for the shift interlock, which was not the problem at all. The car has no problems going from Park to Neutral, etc. They ordered the shift lock solenoid. Is there any way that can fix the problem?
Also, in order to fix it, I believe I have to order a whole new steering lock assembly? Is that correct? Because it is my understanding that is the only way to get a new key interlock solenoid. Does that mean I have to re-key the entire car as well, or can the old lock mechanism be transfered to the new lock assembly?
I'm looking at doing this myself, so help please
