Default Issues with replacement ECU and voltage?

Hello. I have a 1993 Honda Civic DX with a 1.5L D15B SOHC VTEC-E. I purchased the car from someone who had done the motor swap to the D15B and converted the car to VTEC. My issue is that the VTEC controller is actually wired to be turned on by a toggle switch that is located next to my dimmer switch. That same wire runs into my engine bay to the head and also runs into a line located on one of my ECU plugs. Therefore, I have to ability to flip my VTEC on and off at will. Recently, the ECU fried and I purchased a used replacement. The original ECU that fried was a P06-A01, which I believe is for a non-VTEC. As a replacement, I purchased a used P06-A02 ECU from a 1994 Civic DX non-VTEC.

Now that I have the replacement in there, here are my concerns:

1. The shift points seem to feel a little differently than before.

2. I now have a small idle jump after running it for about 20 minutes. I replaced the IACV like two months ago and it wasn't doing it before the ECU blew out.

My questions are:

1. What are the differences between the P06-A01 ECU and the P06-A02 besides the difference in year of make? I read that they were pretty interchangeable, so whats with the shifting and idle jump?

2. Does the ECU type matter given this is a imported Japanese motor?

3. Is the way that my V-TEC is wired up overloading the ECU?

4. Should I be using an ECU from a EX model with the V-TEC? Also, my main relay appears to be for a Honda Accord. Does that make a difference to anything?

Any help would be amazing. Thank you.

you need a P28 with the vtec wired up correctly. the P06 is the SAME hardware board as the P28, but the P28 has the high side transistors for the vtec soldered in. as well as a more agressive fuelmap for it being VTEC

Thanks yo. That sounds good. If you don't mind me asking, how should the VTEC be wired up exactly? I'm assuming it should be from the ECU directly to the head, but honestly I'm kinda new to these Honda motors so that's just a guess.
