Ignition Coils/Fuel Filter in 2001 Civic LX...?
Warning: I don't claim to be any kind of an expert on cars, car repair, automotive terminology or even the English language, for that matter. Please bear that in mind. Thank you!
Hello,
I hope you all can help me out with this, as I've found nothing regarding this. I recently offered to replace the spark plugs, wires and such in my sister's 2001 Honda Civic LX. I had done so with my 1999 model with relative ease.
I went up to the corner auto parts shop and asked for a wireset, for which I expected to pay about $30 to $40. He was redirected, by his computer, to ignition coils. He told me I needed six of them, which came to about $380, total.
I guess my real question is not so much about the price. If that's what it is, that's what it is. What I'm wondering is this: for someone who has only changed sparkplug wires a grand total of two times, how easy is it to change ignition coils? Is there a step-by-step tutorial available?
Also, I was also going to change the fuel filter on the '01 LX, as well, since I had done that with my '99 LX. But now my confidence is shaken a bit. Is there a huge difference between the two in the ease of changing the fuel filter?
Thanks in advance!

The coils (one per cylinder, so there are 4) only need changing if defective. Replace the plugs and reuse the old coils. To change plugs, unplug the coil, undo the bolt and pull coil out of the spark plug hole.
I think on these the fuel filter is back at the tank and hard to replace, again only needs replacing if clogged.
