Default Idling Problem.....

Hi All,

I frequently visit this forum to learn and get help from you all.

I am having problems with my Civic. Once the Civic is warmed up, the idling would gradually rev up to 2000 rpm. Once it reaches 2000 rpm it just drops to 1000 rpm. This cycle would continue over and over again. This only happens when the car is warmed up. The rpm stays steady at 1500 rpm while it's still cold. Does anyone know what the problem might be???

I parked my Civic in an underground garage. While parked, they had people come and power wash(pressure spray) the parking ground. After doing so, this started to happen. That could be the cause of it but I am not sure.

I did a search and checked the probable cause of bad grounding but it didn't solve the problem.

Thanks

Default RE: Idling Problem.....

I have a '94 EX with an idle problem.... though not what you have.
I also have a 1990 Geo Tracker that had almost the exact problem you describe. The issue is usually the Fast Idle valve. In the Tracker it is inside the throttle body, but in the Honda it is below it.

In the searches I did on here for my idle problem, I came up with this link:
http://www.ef-honda.com/ben/Badidle.php

Maybe that will help?
