Idle Rev is High
Hey guys, just bought a 97 1.6 VTi Civic Coupe. Needs a couple of things sorted, but it's done up quite nicely!
Just have a problem with the Idle rev count. It revs at approx 1,800 resting and doesn't drop.
Do you think maybe the throttle cable is tightened too much? This will drain petrol and is pretty annoying cos it's noisier!
Pleaseeeee help me, thanks guys,
Dev

RE: Idle Rev is High
Yeah, check whether the throttle cable is adjusted too tightly.
You also might want to try adjusting the idle screw on the throttle body.
If the problem persists, try cleaning the IACV with carburetor cleaner.

Is it cold outside?I notice when I just turn on my car when it was winter it was staying at 1500rpm in neutral. Once it warmed up and I drove it around I would coast in neutral and it would be back down to 500. Now its warmer out and it doesnt stay that high.

Nah, even once it's been on for afew hours or less it's the same revs. The thing is, it seems to be at avery consistant rev. So, it won't fluctuate, it just idles at the same. So I'm guessing that the IACV is probably not blocked, but the throttle cable is tight.
I'm in work now so I'll have to check after butI'm not even too sure how to adjust the throttle cable. I'm guessing I just turn thenut infront of it.
Also I have an induction kit fitted, not sure if that would affect it. The air flow system maybe?
Thanks for the replies.
