how to get alternator out?
I was able to able to disconnect the alternator but I am unable to get it out of were it was located. I think my best bet is to take the cv jiont out of the transfer case and take the whole wheel out of the way but is there aeasier way to take it out before I do all that work.
can not remove alternator the way the honda civic book says to.
I have a 1989 honda civic dx

RE: how to get alternator out?
when u unbolt it u have to come out on passenger side. slide it under the throttle body or (dual point) threw the heater hoses(can remove if needed.) and pull up. this is the easiest way to remove.

HAHA. I am in the middle of working on this same project, on my CRX. I took the bottom bracket out already, SUPPOSEDLY you don't have to take out the axle, but I haven't figured it out yet
I'm on the way out the door to work on it now

I didn't do it this way at all. The last thing I would want to do is disconnect the heater hoses.
I just removed the splash guard that goes around the bottom / drivers side of the engine, then removed the alternator that way. With the bottom bracket out and the splash shield removed there was nothing blocking it. I put the new one in and reassembled everything, no mess [8D]
I really thought I would have to remove the axle, but nope!
mine is a 1990 Si, for the record.
