My car is way beyond 90k miles and im not sure if the previous owner changed it or not so I was wondering is there any way you can tell its about time to change it?? I wanna know this so I can get it change out so I wont have to pay any costly repair on the long run.

Seriously, just change it. Get it done. It is a HEADACE when it snaps. Its like 300 bucks to get it changed @ a shop. Do it and youre worry free. You could take off the cover, and see if the belt looks newer i guess, but id definetly just get it changed.

you can't tell if a belt is bad until it snaps most of the time, and that would majorly SUCK for you.

go ahead and change it, because if your valves fall down into your piston heads, you'd be screwed...

When in doubt, change it out.

Better safe then sorry.

Ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Umm... Ok that's all I have. Just change it, you can't tell.

It'll actually start to loosen up and develop small cracks in it when it's getting close to breaking. But that stuff is hard to guage unless you know what to look for. I'd say it's definitely time for a change though.

If you have to ask if there's a way to tell, then it's time to change it.

it cost me 400 to get all my valves adjusted and a new timing belt and tranny serviced, do it every 60k, rather spend that now, than thousands later, call your honda shop monday man and just do it. best money you can spend

Just out of curiosity, were your valves out of adjutment and if so did you notice a difference afterwards? Also, how many miles do you have on your car? I've never done valves, but then again it is a honda so I don't worry about it. Thanks!

A valve job is always a good idea.

hey mario, car was bought w/ 60k off an old guy so probably not abused. just to be safe brought it in and had t. belt put on and valves adjusted. at 118k I had it done again, no problems w/ them just rather be safe though. at 121k car died. my fault, had a few cocktails w/ my boss and got on the highway and thought I would see what she had cause I never push her, doing 120 in 4th, up to redline drop clutch go to hit 5th, miss hit 3rd, check engine light comes on, spun a main bearing, I pulled motor out the next day and tore it apart to find problem. never really noticed a difference after valves were done but I would if I sucked one so it is fairly cheap dr.s visit for your car
