Default How do I reconfigure the TPMS?

Hello,

I just bought a used 2009 Civic Si. The car is showing the TPMS light. The car owner said that after he put on a set of Mugen whels that the light came on and it cannot be shut off. I find this hard to believe and would think that this is something that can be reprogrammed. I mean, a legit Mugen Si would not have this light on so why should this car?

Does anyone know how this can be fixed without having to take the car to a dealer? If it is not in the realm of DIY, can a dealer reprogram? Any idea of cost?

Thank you for the information!

Matt

OK, I did a TON of ready on the damn TPMS crap. Looks like the ECU has to be put into "learn" mode to learn the codes of the new TPMSensors in the wheels (like a garage door opener) ...of course, you have to know the codes - that are printed on the sensors but they, of course, are now in the wheels! A dealer can do it - or you can buy a code reader and a code change tool - for about $250-$300 total.

Well, here is the code change tool...http://www.revolutionsupply.com/(S(m.../quickset.aspx

Nice to have if you swap summer and winter tires and need to reset the ECU for the change!
