Is this drain line you are speaking of for the sunroof, or non sunroof, cause I don't have one, which would suggest that there would be no reason for a drain line in my car :-)

Just curious.. Maybe I had a sunroof once and someone put a new roof on the car? dunno. It was hail dammaged.

Hey I had a similar problem. Mine was caused by two things. (1) The trunk seal was fine but the gutter below the rear winshield which goes around the edge of trunk and down the sides had rusted through. If look at the underside (from inside the trunk) you could see all the rust but from the outside it was almost invisible. (2) On the left and right side of the roof there are two small drain gutters which stop water on the roof from draining over the sides of the car. The gutters channel the water towards the rear windshield moulding. If the moulding has dried out or is notsealed down properly, water will leak into the top of the rear panel/Fender and drip down into the trunk. That will explain the moisture near the rear seat. You will need to take off the panel behind the seats and the ones upright to investigate if this may be the cause. Its best to try to find the problem quickly because rust will start to form on the inside of the panel and it will only be noticeable from the outside when the rust has completely eaten through.
Hope this helps.

Ok I finaly found my leak and it explains why I have water in my trunk and behind my drivers seat. It is my back windsheild, water leaks through there and runs down the bar that holds the trunk lid on. I went out today [in the rain] with the intention to take my whole back interior out and when I was doing it I saw the water POURING into my trunk from the windsheild. Also when I pulled my back seats the bottom of them where soaked with water so when I finish tearing out my interior I will silicon it all and hopfully fix the problem.

Well, I tried again today to check out the leak. I tried the flour on the seal trick, and noticed that no water is comming through my seal, so I am set there. Then I worked my way up the drivers side window seal to the roof trim there.

In the gutter, I noticed as I removed the trim from back to front, there were several small rusted holes that were allowing water from the gutter down into the frame and it worked its way back to the trunk, at least I assume thats what was causing it. I included a picture showing about where the holes were located. There are a few divots anyway, in the body, but look close for any holes. if you are having the similar water comming out of the frame issue.

I filled them with some black silicone, i am going to wait it out for a few days and drive some in the rain to see if that helped the problem. It couldn't have hurted anything, lol.

Hope this helps someone.

I think that putting silicon my rear windsheild fixed my problem but I might as well do that too.

i'mgoing through the same problems on my 97 ex. i have a question about the rain gutters on the roof. Is the water supposedto run down the rear window frame to the trunk rim and out the back? my problem is that when the water gets to the base of the rear window it leaks through a seam in the metal at that point. (as far as i can tell anyway)
I ask because of the 2 large gaps at the bottom corners of the rear window, looks like its designed for it.
