HELP! Something shorted, now no AC
I was trying to work on my fog light switch. It was a cheap piece of cr*p, so it melted under the terrible strain of one light bulb. When I was checking voltage on two of the wires (14v), the probes crossed and something shorted. Now I have no power to the fog light harness and, in a cruel twist of fate, my entire center console has no power. No climate control, no AC, no recirculate, no defog. CD player still works, though.
The fog light harness has two power connectors that plug directly into the fuse box. I checked the inline fuses on the harness and almost every fuse in the boxes, both in the car and under the hood. All good.
What have I done?

If it's a 2001 or later, the climate control panel has a small computer in it. Maybe disconnecting the battery with the engine off for a while will reset it. Otherwise the panel/ computer may be fried, if you're sure it's getting power.

Well, I was once more owned by the fact that just because a fuse doesn't LOOK blown doesn't mean that it isn't actually blown. I don't know how or why, but the 7.5A fuse for the AC relay blew. Replaced it, everything works.
In fact, things work better now that my fog lights are wired right. I'll be writing a DIY for the OEM "style" fog light harness soon.
