i originally purchased a new obd2a to obd1 conversion harness for a 98 civic ex. has a stock d16y8. i bought a used p28 ecu for my civic in order to chip it. but i tried the ecu with the conversion harness before chipping it and the car started but ran rough. then i took it out and put in original ecu and ran fine. Wondering what could be the problem? the ecu? or the harness?

Then i tried the p28 again but car would not stay running, car ran rough
for a second then died.

 

then a cel came on?????

it could be the jumper harness or the ecu..... do you have any friends with a obd1 civic? so you can test your ecu. also where did you get the jumper harness? is it a professonal job?

 

Yea im guna check my friends ecu tomorow. But the jumper harness is brand new just opened it. and got it from streetlightz.com it looks professionally done

no not yet. will know tomorow. hoping its the harness because came with warranty but sucks if its the ecu because bought of some guythat said it had no problems. then im out $60

 

Just got it checked out by a friend. the ecu worked fine in his 95 civic. Then i plugged his ecu with my harness and car ran fine. then i plugged my ecu with my harness and car started a little funny but after a second the car idled normal and ran normal? i dont get it
