Question Help with Auto tranny Prob.

Hi all am very new to the site. But love my Honda to no End. I have a 2002 Civic Ex. Had to replace the transmission at 115k miles. Went with a rebuild and had to change out the neutral safety switch as well. The more that i drive it the more it is acting up. The shifter doesn't match the dummy lights on my dash anymore and the car is beginning to lock the shifter in place when i park. I think that it is still thinking that it is in reverse, even though it is in park. I am having to use the emergency release to put the car in neutral to start it. When o go down to drive i have to go to D2 for it to work properly. I've only owned the car about a year and cant really afford another super expensive trip to the mechanic. The tranny pooed out on me on vacation in Ks. Am hoping that there is a cable that i can replace or an adjustment to be made. Sorry if i opened this thread in the wrong place but this is my first forum post.
