Help, 90 Civic won't start in the heat
All,
Can anyone help me please? My 1990 Civic won't start when the weather gets really hot. For the last three years, when the temparature in the summer hits 90 degrees + and the humidity gets high, my car won't start. It will turn but not catch. The battery is fine and I don't have any problem staring the car in the morning or the cold. It only happens when the car has been sitting in the sun all day and is really hot. Does anyone know what might be the problem? I try to start it withall accessories off, even the radio. I had a full tank of gas yesterday and it wouldn't start. My wife had to pick me up last night and drive me to work this morning and of course when I got to work and tried to start the car, it started right up. Any ideas? Thanks for helping.
John

Most problems like this are caused by the main relay, which was a problem part in these cars. The relay has a little circuit board inside and the solder joints on that board crack and become intermittent. The relay is located on the left side of the car under the dash, above the hood release handle. It is possible to take a flakey relay apart and resolder it if you have some experience with soldering.
