HELP on 2000 civic si
Hey i'm new to this site and I was just wondering if anyone has ever had a problem with their civic si? I bought the car from this guy in Austin, Texas and its a sweet car and all. It was in mint condition with 26,750 miles on it. Its a 2000 so the guy never drove it anywhere. Just to work. The problem i'm having on my car is that when the car is idle, the temperature will go up. It 'll go all the way up to the redline. Can anyone help me? I already changed the termastat on it. HELP ME PLEASE???

Sure you didn't put the thermostat in backwards? If the thermostat is installed correctly and you have changed the fluids, it should run correctly. Unless of course, your fan isn't turning on. Drive on the highway, if your car doesn't heat up on the highway then look into the fan.

I'm thinking that there is a coolant block somewhere. The reason an engine will heat up is because the coolant is not flowing or the fan isn't running. Are you sure that the water pump is pushing the fluid around? The flow could be stopped if there is a block or if the pump isn't pushing the fluid around. Is there any smoke?
