Default heater vent stuck open

Todayi was driving home and noticed that the vents closest to the doors on the dash are always on. I can have the heater set to just defrostor just the lower vents for the legsbut the air will still blow through them vents. The center vents are still working properly. I was just wondering if any one has had this problem and could give me some suggestions?

Thanks in advance

have to defer to someone else (hopefully someone comes around); but the info is needed; the newer ones may have a different set-up.

My car does the same thing (97 EX Sedan). I thought it was SUPPOSED to do that...keeps the side windows clear of fog/frost. I'd love to hear if this is normal or not though, I'm still learning lots about HONDAS

My 99 si does that. I also think it is to defrost the side windows.

My 01 EX does it too. I've noticed that if I want to turn the air totally off it still comes through unless I put it on inside air. Unfortunately that little trick doesn't work when I put the air down on my feet. My friend has an 01 LX, and it doesn't do it at all...

Very wierd.

it's definately not supposed to do that, it's stupid...
because when you're on a trip or something or just like a half hour drirve with the defroster on your vent and everything right there is hot as *****, even if you closed the vent, because it's still getting tons of hot air delivered right there, i wonder if there's a recall on it or anything, mine does it and it's a 97 dx so i wonder if it's a generational thing they never fixed, but it just seems stupid to me to be stock
