Default Heater isn't hot, why?

on my 96 civic dx w/o ac i went to turn the heat on this morning and the fan blows but the air doesnt get warm even after driving it around for a while, what am i looking for?

do you have enough coolant? if yes then it might be a heater core but im not positive

^ The most common reason for this is not enough coolant. With the engine cold, take off the radiator cap and make sure it is full to the top.

If you have enough coolant, check that the lever on the heater valve on the firewall moves as you turn the dashboard control from cold to hot.

^ exactly your heat comes from the engines coolant. when the motor is at normal running temp the heater should work if everything else seems to be working
