I need to buy a socket set. Anyone have suggestions where i can find some good cheap tools?

+1 for craftsman. I have tons of their stuff, a lot of my craftsman stuff was my grandfathers from before I was born. LOL

I also have lots of Snap-On. If you have the cash, I say go Snap-On, but on a budget Craftsman FTMFW!!!!

 

Wait for a sale on the Craftsmans, they used to regularly put the socket sets and other common tools on sale for about half the regular price. Also you could check local pawn shops as good tools sometimes can be found there (You hope it was just a retired mechanic who went broke, and not that they're stolen). But know what they're worth first.

 

I swear by Craftsman tools. I won't buy anything else.

 

Oh, and get a set of THESE. My grandfather got me a set for X-mas and I really don't know how I lived without them. LOL Plus with a Honda, you can take apart the whole car with just one set of Metric. ROFLMAO

 

Craftsman and SnapOn are so expensive though. I saw a cheap no nameset at autozone for $15. Are these cheap sets really that bad?

Look, tools are not one of the things that you can get "the cheap ones". You are putting a lot of pressure and force on your tools when you are using them, and if they fail you are talking broken fingers, a trip to the ER for stitches, or some other bad thing. And I know for a fact that the AutoZone tolls SUCK!!! My friend cheaped out and bought a set. It only took him a few hours to strip out the sockets. So just go sell some plasma or or something and get the good ones.

 

ya i broke 3 half inch extensions in one day cause they were cheap ***

 

I ended up getting a craftsman socket set and a gearwrench racheting wrench set at sears. I got the gearwrenches because they were half the price as the craftsman, I really didnt want to buy them but they have a lifetime warrenty.
