Question Gauge questions

Hi i have a questions i have a 2001 Honda civic ex 4dr and im getting my engine replaced the engine haves 126k miles and im getting a 2003 civic ex engine that haves 66k miles so my question is can i put the gauge from the 03 civic on my 01 civic and will it say 66k miles ? will it even fit ?
if i leave my old one will it still say 126k?

I think 2001 and up electronically store the mileage in two places to make such tampering difficult. Legally the miles on the clock must be those traveled by the car not the engine.

so if i put the 03 engine with 66k its still going to say 126k on the old gauge ?

Yes. They would just change the engine itself and leave the rest of the car the same.
