Gas pedal Jammed

Gas pedal Jammed
Driving home form work tonight, My floor mat jammed my accelerator open.
I cam around the corner, accelerated, went to shift to 3rd and when I engaged the clutch and let off the gas the engine just started to rev up. I immediately knew what had happened, put it in neutral and tried to kick the gas pedal free while going for the keys with my right hand (left was driving)
I managed to get the pedal free without having to shut off the engine and just coasted for a second before putting it in 3rd and continuing home.
So basically I want to know if I damaged the engine in anyway. I don't think I hit fuel cut abut i did see that needle awfully close to 7k RPM.
When I got home I tried to look and listen and because it was raining and dark plus because my exhaust is broken I could not really detect anything out of the ordinary.
There is a pulley that squeaks when it gets wet, I don't know which one, and I have Honda tick (which I will fix when I get my timing belt done which should be soon)
Anyway, should I worry or just drive it and hope for the best?
(and yes, I am DEFINITELY getting fitted mats now, not these generic POS's)

Alright good to hear, I am just a bit paranoid about this, I NEED my car and can't afford to replace the engine, or a lot of engine work period.

I have the same creeping mat problem, and on the del Sol there is a bolt hole for where the hook goes, just like on the 96-00 Civic.
If there's no TSB, do you have a link to the parts I would need? (the grommet ring for the floor mat, the floor hook, and the bolt) I'm sure I could use the 96-00 parts if there's no del Sol ones.

ya i had similar problem with my 96 cheap floor mats got stuck under gas pedal really freaken me out... i just threw that POS away and never looked back.....
you just need something to hold the mats back away from the gas pedal. some factory fats have pins they go over with a clip ontop i believe to hold them back. you can make something similar with some epoxy and some shoe laces... pull your mat out. clean the bottom of the matt good let it dry. then put the end of a shoe lace on the bottom of the mat where ya just cleaned.... then mix up the epoxy. i prefere 1 min or 5min stuff myself just depends how quick you are with mixing and applying
just mix the stuff up and spready it out about quarter size or larger around the shoe lace on the matt and let it dry. then once its fully dry slap it back in the car and tie the shoe lace to the bottom of your seat and your fine....
or if your really ruff with your matts you might have to put two holes in it and you can use a zip tie as well to hold it.
or you could always hope under your car inspect that nothing is in that area and put a screw thru the floor matt and floor but thats a last ditch kinda thing since its not removable very easily and if you dont check you might hit a wireharness or worse brake line or gas line. not recommended...
