Question Fuel gauge indicator

Hi there

I have 1999 LXi CIVIC, i got used to see the fuel gauge indicator moves up when the switch is turned on and moves down directly when the switch is off.
Few days ago, i noticed that the indicator takes more than 10 minutes to move down when the switch is off, can any one explain this to me, is there any defect or any problem in this? I am afraid it won't give correct fuel indication in the future.

Thanks in advance

I have a 97 DX. The gauge does NOT drop when the key is turned off, but it still reads correctly. Personally I wouldn't worry about it unless the gauge drops to E and does not come up OR if it stays at F and never comes down.

you are right
some fuel gauges of HONDA were designed such that the indicator does not move down even when the switch is off, but in my case the design is different

My daughter's civic 03 EX is reading full all of the time. We replaced the 80W fuse last wk and the battery. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a bad gas gauge to me.
