i did a d15b7/d16z6 mini-me swap for my buddy in his 93 dx hatch. fresh head with gear,cam, port an polish. low km bottom end in great shape. but when it hits vtec the cel comes on and it wont idle, and the vtec wont work, it works for a second before the light comes on. ive done 5 mini-me's in the past and i just cant figure it out. the idle is erratic at about 100rpm. the cel is sometimes for the pressure switch an sometimes its for the cylenoid. everythings wired and pinned correctly, also tried 2 different cylenoids, and combinations of the both. if you drive it an dont hit vtec, it will be fine, if i unhook it, it will also run fine, help?

 

A rookie question, but did you take the oil restrictor out of the block?

If it won't idle seems like the VTEC solenoid is staying on when it is not supposed to. That would almost have to be a wiring problem or faulty ECU.

 

yup oil jet removed, the vtec staying on is what im thinking to, come to think of it the computer does smell like burning, ill pop my p28 in it an see if that fixes it.

 

also the first test we did the vtec was wired backwards, solenoid to switch port, an vice verca.

 

my ecu half seems to fix it, no cels but also no vtec lol.
