ya, my 90 mustang was similar to your problem and it too was a fuel pump

Did the defective fuel pump show up when the car was starting? How about when there is a high fuel demand such as accelerating uphill at high RPMs?

If it delivers enough fuel when there is a high demand for fuel, it is pumping adequate volume and pressure. If there is a lack of fuel at startup it probably has something to do with pressure bleeding off when the car sits overnight.
