get the car up on jackstands fully examine the exhaust piping for holes and **** if you dont see any fire up the car, and run your hands along the pipe feeling for the escaping gas, have someone rev to get the air moving faster if u want. try that...

What makes you believe that you have an exhaust leak? As Josh says, check for obvious holes or cracks throughout the entire exhaust system including the exhaust manifold and catalytic converter.

It's more likely to be a loose exhaust heat shield than an exhaust leak.

I agree with the others. if you have a leak, the smoke will make it pretty obvious as it will not be coming out of the tailpipe but somewhere in the middle or the front of the car.

With the engine idling, hold a rag in your hand and use it to cover the tail pipe to build up some pressure. You will hear the gas hissing out where there is a leak. Having an assistant to block the pipe helps as you can listen more closely to localize the leak.

Safety tip: Don't do this test in a closed structure or garage lacking proper ventilation.
