engine year.
i'm kinda confused on what year the engine is in my car. the guy i bought it off said its a H22A1 97 prelude engine, but when i looked in the honda engine list it said that its for a 92-96 prelude and also for a 97 prelude.[sm=WTFsgign.gif]. gonna change my oil and gotta get the right filter, and will be good for future endouvers.

I dont get it? Go outside look at the motor, and if you look at the left side of the block, there will be a flat spot about 8 or 9 inches down from the top of the valve cover. Its about and inch and a half high, bu 2 inches wide, and flat. Itll have the model number of the engine there. If it s covered in grease, spit on it, wipe it off and read it. Then come back in and look it up if you want the model of the engine...Apologies if this sounds kind of rude. Its not my intent
The H22A1 engine was previously in the 4th gen ludes as well as 5th. The only difference is your lude is 1 cc bigger than the other, and has 195hp@7000rpm instead of 190@6500.

Icn cant really check my redline because its a h22 in an esi shell.
And the valve cover was painted a different colour before i had the car.
I'll give Honda a ring tomorrow and see wether they can help me.

You lost me. No matter what shell its in you can check the tach cause im sure that the h22a needs the ecu made for the h22a, unless its been chipped or swapped with a performance ecu. Eh well. Next time your on the road tach it out in first gear but stop as soon as it raps itself and note the tach reading. Im not quite sure how else to find out but good luck with honda. They dont do good with swaps cause i tried callin em for some info on one. If anything take it to a local tune shop, theyll be more accurate cause its in front of em.

yea my bad i shouldve specified that its where the car tachs out instead of just the redline on the car. Sorry. Although for future reference dont always trust the cars set redline but also dont push the limits with it either. Its a fine line between zoom and boom.

i'm sure the limiter kicks well above 7,000 so i geuss its out of a Type S. a rolling road printout came with the car reading 197 at the fly with i/h/e but considering the person before me used a turbo manifold and 3" piping for the exhaust im not too worried about that figure just yet.
