Default Engine LIGHT/ MESSED Spedo

Hey,

Today my engine light came on and the spedo started going weird. It just goes down to 0 or jumps around every 5-10 minutes. Car runs fine just the spedo and odometer get messed and the check engine light stays on. Any ideas would be great.

Do you have aftermarket gauges? Sounds like a ground.

No code found when I took it to a friend. He got the CEL to shut off however it came back on shortly after. He said it may be a loose pin on the back of the spedo or the speed sensor relay may be malfunctioning. I dunno what else it could be.

same things on mine. its your speed sensor. the reason why your CEL lights up. is b/c when you ae traveling and you start to slow down yout comp wants to know how fast your going and it can't tell you so it is telling you that you have a bad speedo sensor. or something is wrong eith it. now depending on what year you have. the one i know about are 92-95 there are two of them . on in the instrument panel and on eon the tranny. and there is also the electrical wire it could be frayedor just broked. or you could have a bad ground. dunno but those are the reasons and what can be wrong.
but really i would'nt even worry about it. its the only legal way to tap the odometer. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!! i didnt say that. but i don't even worry about mine. i just dopn't really car how fast i am going.

i have the same problem, but i replaced the speed sensor and nothing happened. i dont know what it is. and my engine light is on also. i think it is because of the air idle contol valve needs to be replaced, and i need to mess around in the back of the cluster and make sure erverything is in and is grounded.

I had the same problem with my 94 ex. Speed sensor didnt fix, even had a shop check the gear that turns the sensor from the tranny. I finally had to order a used cluster and now everything works fine.
