Default Engine codes P1362/P1361

I bought a 1999 Civic EX 4 door auto with 122K miles. Came with all the maint. history.Someone removed the check engine light bulb. It failed state emmisions. Code p1362.TDC no signal. I replaced the distributor, it cleared the code for about 15 minutes, then it came back as a p1361 intermittent TDC signal. I'd like to keep the car. What should I do next?

For clarification, when you say that you replaced the distributor, do you mean that you installed an entire new distributor assembly including the cap, housing, rotor, coil, ICM, and the sensors?

The trouble code is specific for the TDC sensor, so the next consideration should be a problem with the TDC sensor circuity. I can post the recommended troubleshooting procedure if you wish.

The TDC sensor troubleshooting procedure is shown in the two pictures here and in my next post. Post again in this thread if some text is unclear or you have additional questions.
