Default engine click?

When I start my car in the morning and any other time when it hasent been driven for awhile I get a ticking sound as I accelerate, then when i shift it gets quiet and then gets a little louder as I accelerate and so on. This all stops once the engine warms up. Its not a loud sound, but its definantly there. What should I start with?

probably valve adjustment and that is something u may want to have a professional do. unless u want to take the chance of ruining ur own motor...if thats the case, Haynes manual and good luck.

yea i deffinately would take it to a dealer if you dont know how to do it. It would cost alot less to pay 3x at a dealer then to screw up your engine, and have to get a new one. but its your call.

If you want to be cheap don't do the VALVE adjustment your self...Then just leave it the way it is...because if you don't have a clue what you are doing. BYE BYE engine will cost you alot in major repairs just to save a couple of dollars. Just take it to the dealer or look for a shop that just do Honda's GOOD LUCK Buddy!!!!!!

Search around here somone recently posted links to some directions. It is also in the Haynes manual. On the older models, Honda even put instructions in the owner's manual.

It's supposed to be done about every 30,000 miles, but few people do that, most just wait until it gets noisy. There is relatively little risk of damaging the engine doing it wrong, though of course anything could happen.

There are plenty of good DIYs for adjusting valves wither here or on other forums. Just be sure to check a manual for the proper clearance to adjust it to.
