Default ecu not ready for emissions - 98 cx hatch

jut under 500 miles have been put on it since the battery disconnection. Prior to that the car sat for 18 months having just driven 500 miles.. prior to that it sat 4 years...

i wonder if the ecu is smart enough to evaluate old data, and just completely purged EVERYTHING - does anyone know what the actual drive cycle is on this car, i am really up against a wall with temp permits right now - running out of time to drive legally and diagnose......

Could loose stereo wiring be screwing thigns up somehow? I doubt that but it's the only other thing i can think of. 18 months ago, it passed emissions with no issues.. i think it would be very very odd for the ecu to go bad sitting in a covered spot for 18 months.

43500 miles, am exhaust and intake.. your help is very very much appreciated.

Default RE: ecu not ready for emissions - 98 cx hatch

I think the same circuit supplies constant +12 to the stereo and also to the ECU to backup the memory. If this power is not there, the ECU will lose its memory every time the key is turned off (as if the battery were disconnected) so it will constantly have the not ready code.

Identify the pin supplying that power at the ECU and test that constant +12v is there.
