Default Drivers door lock

The drivers door on my sons 97 excoupe will not lock. I have the door panel off and can hear the control box clicking and the passenger door is locking ok. It has been a problem on and off for a while but I need to get this locking with school starting soon. Any input? Thanks

I've tried locking it with the door shut - since the civics are like that - didn't do a thing.

hum.... well with the drivers door open does the dome light come ON and OFF with the door open and closed?

if it doesnt it COULD BE the door contact sensor could be dirty and not making contact which COULD keep the drivers lock from locking.... just unscrew the sensor and test the wire... clean the contacts and retry it..

Have you tried reaching inside the door and manually trying to lock it from the latch assembly. Doing so would eliminate a mechanical problem. Also try disconnecting the rod from your lock cylinder to make sure that isn't keeping it from locking; it might be corroded internally. While you have the door upolstery off make sure you lubricate every thing will a good quality lubricant including the key cylinder.

Im taking it apart again tonight. Im going to try to bypass the automatic locks. It won't lock with key, manually from inside or automaticlly with the switch.

could be the latch.... best thing to do it pull out the whole latch and play with it....

could just have some dirt or grit in the latch not leting it lock... or maybe a part just broke in it.... try messing with it and if it still wont work right.... just buy a new latch... i dont THINK they would be to much money....

I got it last night. It was the actuator. It was locked up solid. I took it off and reinstalled the latch and I can lock them manually now.

I have that problem with my driver door now, and last year I had the same thing happen to my passenger door. All you need to do is order a new actuator.
