Default Driver door lock prob..

I know that you can't lock a civics driver door unless its shut and with a key from the outside...I have an aftermarket alarm with keyless entry but it does not lock my drivers door...it does lock/unlock the passenger door. I can lock the door with the key. I also know that the drivers lock is getting a signal from the alarm because when i press lock or unlock..i hear a noise for the door and the lock lever "twitches" i guess is how i would describe it...

The lock actuator might be worn out or weak. You can pull the door panel and inspect the actuator to make sure everything is aligned right. The only other thing I can think of is that the door sensor (bottom of the B pillar by the paint code sticker) might be going bad and senses that the door is "open" so the door won't lock.

Actually... its just impossible... Its a feature built in to prevent one from locking their Keys in the car, its meant to force you to Either A. lock it from the outside, or B. Pull the inside handle (to open the door) then activate the lock.

I imagine you can disable this, but im unsure how.

Largen, what he is saying is it wont lock with the door shut.
I have to agree with our wellfedhobo. also check for weak points, check to see if the rod bent, and how hard is it to lock when you lock it with your key? If there is too much resistance, it may keep the actuator from doing its job.

Also notice Largens post for B. You can lock the door without having to use the key. =)

lol -yeah, something is wrong. They should lock by key with the door shut. Can you lock your door when your in the drivers seat and the door is shut?

False like largen stated if you pull on the inside door handle and push on the lock mechanism then it will lock.

it may be an installer problem. does it unlock the drivers door? also try pressing the lock button while pulling on the inside handle.
