double clutching

RE: double clutching
Actually, we're both right. Shifting without letting off the gas is also referred to as power shifting. I'm not sure why people use the same term for both ways of shifting... I'm not sure which is right either... so again, we're both right
Edit: I've did a quick search on google and some define power shifting as simply "reducing the time required to shift". If that helps any...

RE: double clutching
okay double clutching is when you at full throattle and u kick the clutch down real fast so that ur rpm's kick in harder...for example last night i raced a lexus is300 from a 2 gear 40 pull...my 2000 si isn't really too strong so as we honked off i hit the gas and kick the clutch in really fast then i power shifted...why becaus the lexus is probably faster than me on a 40 roll but since i clutched it on 2nd i was able to stay a half a car infront until i pulled a car and a half on him... get it?

RE: double clutching
you should of just power shift all the way, when you power shift your feet is always on the gas, your rpm stays high, that is where all your hp is at, the point is to keep your rev where your hp is at, , this is good in 1/4 races because you'll always be where your hp is at, at the high rpm
when you double clutch your rpm drops, but you get a better grip from your clutch
I use to race at rockingham in nc, and this is how we did it

RE: double clutching
well for normal driving i just dont downshift that often..... but if i do i just kick up the rpms close to matching so it wont jerk the car around and hurt the clutch as much...
but then again im not much into racing my manual..... im just driving..... keep racing on the track

RE: double clutching
I'm very careful with my clutch, rev matching every gear shift, either up or down. I ate a stock clutch in 7000 miles, and I want my $1400 investment to last longer.
Unfortunately, when you rev match while upshifting, it can take what seems like forever to change from gear 1 to gear 2.

And, I find it hard to believe that your Si beat an IS300 that was actually trying to race you.
