Default do i need a new ecu??

Hi, i have a d15b2 in my 89 hatch. im having idle problems. i do have a y8 single cam vtec head w/intake manifold. im thinking of just trying to run the intake on my d15b2. would i need a new ecu with the intake or only if i also put the head on. and will it mount up without any mods?

just the intake manifold? No, you won't need a new ECU. If you do the mini-me swap (put the y8 head on there), then yes you will need the ECU to enable the VTEC.

Well....are you DPFI right now?....

the D15B2 is dual port fuel injection and if i understand you right you want to put the intake manifold from the Y8 on the b2...

in that case you would need a new ecu...you cant use the d15b2 ECU....has to be a MPFI Ob0 ecu

a little more complicated than that , you are going to have idling problems anywyas bc of running a dif intake mani, is the idle going from1000 to 1500, then you might want to check the IACV or your throttle cable bracket.

You have to change the ECU to one that will drive the 4 fuel injectors instead of the TBI. May as well just go for a complete mini-me job.
