Ed, the VTEC solenoid is located near and on the firewall side of the distributor. Did you install an OEM O-ring from Honda?

Ron J-oem from Honda. Thanks for the location information. I was just looking at the PDF file, I guess it is called a spool valve. I was chuckling as I thought of just how familiar you must be with this manual. It takes me SO long to wade through it. I never could figure out how to search it, even using help.

josephdstone: I promise this wasn't a hijacked thread, at least not intentionally. It would seem that you and I are on the same problem.

Ed

Replace the entire distributor or at least the distributor housing.

I have a new one ordered, ugh 199.99 from oreily, it was 170.00 for a re-manufactured one with an 80.00 core, or the 199.99 with cap, rotor and dist....hopefully this fixes it.

When I changed my o-ring on my 93 ex 1.6 the old ring was solid stuck in place. Took lots of pushing it with a pick (made an ever so slight scratch on the dist) and I got the new one installed. It still leaks though. Chances are you're not loosing too much oil, just let it go.
