Default Dim gauge lighting

I have gotten in the habit taking the kids ride for errands. I noticed his instrument lights are dim and while lights dim over time I wondering about brighter, whiter , replacement bulbs. Anybody?

PS you can replace the rear speakers without tearing the back apart - my son was able to get the speakers out. He could only get two screws per speaker back in so I carefully cut a 3/4 inch wooden dowel, firmly attached a felt disc like you use on chairs and drilled it in place from underneath mounting a washer before the screw. A touch of Dremel to the dowel for that just right fit and the Kickers do not rattle. Most amazing is that they actually sound fairly decent with stock head. $40 at Circuit City going out of business sale for $199 speakers

this is a little older of a civic, but the type of bulbs in the cluster are the same and it's the same concept.

If you think the lights are abnormally dim, then the problem could be a faulty dash lights brightness controller.
