Default Did mini-me car wont start tried everything!!!

Hey, I finally got around to finshing my mini me head swap. Y8 head reused Y7 injectors and IM. Currently also using the non-vtec y7 ECU till the P28 comes in.

I am having problems starting the car. I turn the key and I hear the fuel pump kick on and the starter turning away. I got new gnition wires and OEM ngk spark plugs. I am getting spark I pulled all the plugs out and they all are sparking. I am really clueless at this point. Any ideas? My car has been down for 5 days now getting really annoying.

Is the CEL ON? If so, what codes do you retrieve?

CKP/TDC/CYP Sensor or CKF sensor problem?

Timing belt problem?

Intake air leak?

CEL is on. I'll pull the code when i get back from work. I'm pretty sure is some type on spark problem. What is the correct firing order? I am getting fuel you can smell it, I also recently changed the fuel filter.

What year Civic?

This site describes how to pull the code(s):

http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread/1901557

Alternatively, AutoZone will do it for free using a scan tool (you may get more detailed information this way).

After you pull the code(s), clear the ECU (remove 7.5A BACKUP fuse for 10 seconds, then reinsert). Crank engine for at least 30 seconds to see if CEL turns back ON and, if so, again pull the codes.

Your Civic service manual likely can be found here: http://hondatech.info/downloads/Auto/Manuals/Civic/

It will help you troubleshoot the codes. Otherwise, repost your information in this thread for additional feedback. The codes may give important insights about your starting problem.

For a 98 Civic, the cylinder #s are 4-3-2-1 from left to right, when you are standing in front of the car (also see picture). It's probably the same for a 99 Civic.

Timing spot? Not sure what that is. I have everything set to TDC.

"Spot on" means "precisely to specification".

All Civics are 1-3-4-2 going clockwise around the distributor cap. Cylinder #1 is the one furthest from the distributor. The location of wire #1 does change with different models but it's somewhere in the 8 to 12 o'clock range.

With the crank at TDC, take the distributor cap off and make sure the rotor points to wire #1 (or #4). With the cam also at TDC1 ("TOP" on the cam pulley is at the top), then the rotor must point to #1.
