Default Dead civic. Please help.

Hi, I'm new here.

Posting for my pregnant girlfriend.

She has this 97 civic 1.4i.

She called me when she finished work to say she had left the lights on all day. She had tried to get a work friend to jump the car using leads but there was nothing at all. No dash lights, no battery light - nothing - even the little digital clock in the dash is dead.

I went up there in my pick up truck and stuck the heavy duty leads on it and it wouldn't power up. Still nothing - no lights on the display. So I checked the fuse box by the battery (is there another fuse box?) and all was well in there. I went to the local auto store and bought a new battery - correct type and fully charged, came back and put it on - still nothing. The hazard lightsare the only things working - no power to the lights or ignition at all - nothing coming to the dash lights.

I'm stumped.

We cant afford a tow firm or a mechanic - I'll have to go back on saturday morning when I have more time, for now the car has to stay there at her work car park.

My girlfriend really needs this car to keep going until she finishes work to have the baby and right now money is tight.

I cant check back to answer questions unitl tomoro morning(7.50pm now here in the UK)and I'm hoping you guys will have some theories for me so I know what I should be looking at.

Thanks

Karl

Well, I don't know about 1.4's, but there is another fuse box by the driver's left knee. You sure all of the under-hood fuses are ok? Sounds like a "back-up" fuse to me.

There is another fuse box. Its under the dirvers steering wheel. Somehow I think the ignition is blown and the dash/accessory lights.
