Dead '01 Civic
Honda Civic 2001 LX 2-Door
1.7 4-cylinder
Question: A couple of days ago my Civic died in the middle of the road. All power was cut and gauges dropped. It was about 36 degree's F outside and dry. After getting it back to the house, we found that it would turn over but wouldn't fire. When the key was placed into the ignition the gas guage raises like normal, but upon turning the car over the guage drops back to empty. A friend of mine said that it was possible that my car had a aftermarket alarm system in it, but I am not sure what that entails. Suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

Sounds like the alternator to me, you can check with volt meter should read between 10 and 18 volts at battery. Also check at alternator. If this continues you will drain your battery and kill it.
Could be a bad ground if you have a aftermarket stereo or alarm system. Any paint where ground wire is screwed in should be sanded to bear metal.
