I am in the middle of replacing a motor in an '02 LX...I purchased an 04 engine knowing everything should match up...I am now at the part were I use my existing harness and hook up all the connections...I get to a part that isn't on my old engine...after a few minutes of research, I find out it is my EGR...A little more research and I find that it is only found on the 01-03 VTEC's and all the 04 models...
My question is: Since my preexisting engine did not have this, and my new engine does...Do I have to find a way to connect it...or can I leave the electrical connection missing...otherwise the only thing I can see to do is replace the thermostat housing from my old engine onto the new...
Please Help...

that might just be for vtec. So you should be good. If you wanted a little more power then you could convert, but if u leave it unconnected i think vtec will just not engage. Dont take my word for this i could be completely wrong but from the looks of it, it sounds like that is the problem. Can someone else confirm?

Should be OK to leave it disconnected. The EGR valve will never open, which is the same thing as having an engine with no EGR valve in the first place.
Are you sure it's an EGR valve? The thermostat housing doesn't have anything to do with the EGR valve, it's on the intake manifold.

I am definitely positive that it is the EGR valve...based on a wiring schematic of the engine, the color schemes on the wires only go to the EGR valve.
I must admit I am still a fairly young noob when it comes to engines (not to mention complete engine replacements), so I am probably incorrect about it being part of the thermostat housing...Basiclly, the part looks like a cylinder with a connector comming out of the top of the cylinder. Looking from the drivers seat to the engine, it is on the right side of the head and is beside the large plastic intake housing.
Hope this helps,
