Default d15b swap? $

I need an opinion. I was looking at swaps and dyno results. I saw that a turbo d16z6, internals, fuel manage, etc, can make over 400 whp. I can get a d15b swap for cheap. Would a properly tuned d15b with a nice turbo kit and good fuel managment be pretty fast ? I want to go as cheap as possible, I want to get racing quick!

You probably won't be able to make more than 180-190Hp on the D15's internals. But still, that's pretty fast. Mid-low 13's probably. There are some guys over at SOHChonda.com runnin' turbo D15's, but they have beefy internals and $$$ in the motor. The dude on Homemadeturbo.com had a turbo d15 on 6psi runnin like a champ for almost 3 years. He said it "ran like a champ" but no timeslips or dynos.

What if I put on a thicker head gasket to lower compression, then a lil more boost? I'd hit over 200 whp then, wouldn't I? Look at these dyno results. That's a d16z6. The d15b puts out more hp then the d16z6 stock, but I don't know which one is overall better. . . . . . .

That's from www.turbod16.com

D16z6 stock w/ thick headgasket -- T3/T4 -- 16.5psi -- AFC hack

Yeah, it's a jap spec motor. It's got a bigger exhaust manifold and longer intake runners to make a few more horse. I don't know what else is different. I would imagine the internal are the same but wait for somebody who knows for sure.

I just don't know if those rods will hold 200 horse.

well u could but aftermarket d16 rods w/o any problems, but the pistons will have to be custom made since being that the d15 deck is shorter than the z6. so d15 more horses lil bit more complicated, z6 lil less hp but not as much of a hassle. so make your pick
