My break pedal switch broke, a little plastic button thing game off and this was keeping my break lights on when I turned my car off. A friend of mine fixed it but rigged it up and didnt get a new part. Also, my cruise control stopped working at the same time. Is the broken cruise control somehow attached to the plastic piece that broke off??

 

My friend rigged it up to where the break lights turn off when theyre supposed to, they only turn on when I break and then go back off. But getting the part might fix the cruise control too?

 

Yes, it's designed so when you press the brake pedal the cruise control will drop out (or won't engage if the pedal is already pressed when you try to engage it). That's done by the same switch.

Don't drive in traffic with brake lights stuck on. The official part is not expensive.

 

Check if your brake pedal switch has two big wires and two small wires on it. Those are two-section switches, one for the brake lights and one for the cruise. It's possible the switch is only working halfway, or the plug is loose. Also if it's manual there's a similar switch on the clutch pedal.
