Crankshaft pulley bolt
Anyone ever deal with a crank pulley bolt that is not loosening up?
So far I've put an electric impact to it with no success. Tried the usual breaker bar, etc. Is the Honda tool that holds the pulley in place an essential item and if so is it available anywhere besides Honda?

the special honda tool is available for rent at Oreillys Auto in my area. Most likely also available at Autozone. Call them. It is also available thru Amazon.com.
If you are using the break bar routine, you will definitely need it. Otherwise, all you'll be doing is spinning the crankshaft hopefully in the correct counter clockwise direction

I had a similar problem. I tried impact and it would STILL not loosen. I even lubed it O.o I ended up using the tool munday is talking about. I had to use a box wrench for leverage. (slid the wrench over the pulley bar) it was hard and took a very muscular mailman who about ripped his pants open helping.. bout stripped it. Good luck.. that lock tight can be a pain

Can anybody help me with store phone # where they have been able to rent/borrow the Honda tool. Been to the largest Oreilly's in the area and the Zone and they both looked at me like I was from outer space. Figure if I can contact the store where you were able to get the tool they may be able to give me their part number to relate to a store in my area....St. Louis, Mo.

Hmmm..You might have to buy that. It only cost $25, and I'm telling you...you won't just use it one time.
Somehow..I sensed that those auto part stores wouldn't know because they're not specialized in hondas..but in cars in general.
No wait...let me take that back.......SOME OF THE TIME they are specialized in cars in general. Many times they don't know what they're talking about(the manager & asst manager does tho).

in the past, they didn't have it, but my local oreilly's has a laminated placemat sized sheet of loaner tools on their checkout counter. I saw it on there the other day. I believe it actually says honda crankshaft pulley tool on it. Go up to the counter and see if you can find that sheet with all the loaner tools on it. It's there. I do not know the exact part #. My local oreilly's is (314) 993-6390. Hope it helps.

93 crankshaft pulley bolt
newbie here i read previous threads and am still needing help.
i have a 93 civic dx, and recently was on a trip to az. while driving i broke 2 belts and noticed the crankshaft pulley was loose. i was able to tighten the bolt down with a ratchet, but cannot get it to tighten all the way, without the crankshaft and motor turning. do i need some sort of torque reactor? any help for this newb would be appreciated.
