Default crankshaft bolt

i tried loosening the crankshaft bolt on my brothers car (89 civic d13 jdm) to change his cam belt. i got him to put car in 5th gear, with his foot on the brake while I swung out of the breaker bar but the bolt would not budge. I don't have access to a compressor (not allowed to work on our own cars in workplace - dicks) so an air-gun is out of the option, and don't have any welding equipment either.
Anyone have any suggestions?

i just take the starter off and put a screwdriver on the flywheel to stop the crank from turning. Good luck

Drive to a machine shop. For $5 to $10 they will spin it loose, snug it back up. Drive home and change out the belt.

try putting some wd-40 on the bolt threads and let it sit over night to see if it can loosen the bolt any

i can't drive it on my insurance, cops are busy on the roads lately - might try wd40
has anyone else done a timing belt on a civic? heard the crank bolts can be hard to shift (even with a gun) but i've never had a problem taking a crank bolt off by hand before

ok look be careful.l find out the way the crankshaft turns. then put the breaker bar on the bolt. let the bar rest on the floor then turn the car on let the breaker bar hit the floor and the bolt will loosen but turn off car fast

can't, crank spins counter-clockwise at the belt side - if i did that, it'd tighten the bolt
