first off i dont know if this is in the right section but anyways i just have many unanswered questions....well lately ive been considering a motor swap, because i have a 99 civic ex coupe 5 spd, with an AEM v2 intake...i know if i get headers and exhaust, i still wont be satisfied with the performance for all of the money...ive been looking at b16s, b18s, and h22...many people have been saying that the d16y8 are great motors and that many people turbo them and they can handle it well...should i stick with the stock motor with 108,000 miles, then turbo it and get an exhaust? what if i wanted to swap the motor later, would the turbo and exhaust still fit? how much psi would be safe to run, if im not really a racer, but just want great improvement. i basically want to be faster than most cars, while keeping it a sleeper and daily driver. Also, if i deicide to turbo my car, is it possible to make it reliable without it killing my motor, or having to worry about it all the time. im hoping someone can answer all of these questions

If it was me I would just turbo your Y8 man! You can run like 8psi to the stock motor if it is in good condition, and it will most likely take it for a while depending on how hard you beat on it. The most important thing is statrting with a solid platform aka your motor is properly maintained, and tuning if you ask me. Make sure you get a good FMU, and some sort of way to monitor your air/fuel ratio. That's my opinion. But a DOHC motor is fun too!!!!!! A B18 would be my choice if you went that route.

H22 is way too big and heavy for your car. You'd lose your A/C and power steering. Plus, even if you did get that all in, your cornering would SUCK... so basically people who do H22s are people who don't use it as their daily driver but take it to the strip.
I'd say turbo your D. That's what I'm doing... With a good amount of boost you'll be able to walk on stock B-series all day and they'll have no idea what's going on. I've done about a months research now... even reading books based solely on puting a turbo on a civic.
Don't quote me on this but I think if you do decide to go Bseries after you turbo your Dseries, the only thing that wouldn't fit would be the manifold.
