Default cold weather starting

Hi guys, I live in NJ and weather is now a torture (6F). When I got my civic, I noticed it takes 1-2 secs to cold start it. Now during morning, it takes 3-4 secs. Is this normal on winter season? Or do I have to put some fuel additives like anti freeze or somethin?

totally normal, probably harder for it to turn over and for the gas to get flowing, so dont worry about it.

That's normal, the oil is like molasse when it's cold.

As a follow up to original post, mine also takes a "while" to start in the cold. I also live in jersey. But it seems that when it does start I either get a whining noise and chattering noise until the cars warms up. Any ideas about that? Only happens in the cold weather.

the whinning noise maybe from the belts. rubber tend to harden in cold temperatures. The chattering noise maybe from your engine... since the oil hasn't lubricated all the parts yet. i guess it's normal because I hear the same sometimes on cold starts. Just wait for a few minutes and they should be all gone.

pimpciv98: where are you in nj? i'm near morristown.

I'm on the outskirts of Flemington which is a little south of you. Do you ride bikes too?
