Question Cold Air Intake...what all do I need?

I'm still considering getting cold air intake and also the AEM VR2(??) one but I don't know what else I will need...also it said something about for manual trannys only and mine is automatic (I know, I know...I suck at driving stick...okay?!) so what all do I need?? Thanks! Also, does this mean I have to get a loud exhaust? I know nothing about this so forgive me...

No, please don't get a loud exhaust, since you don't need it. What year Civic do you have? Also, is it a DX, LX, or EX?

The DX and LX need one type of intake, and the EX needs a different type.

Its not required you need to get an exhaust or header to go with a CAI. people just like doing it because its simple bolt ons.

its AEM V2. manual and auto should be the so get the one that is for your engine. hx and ex model ones would work. dx and lx would not

Neither of these are required. If you just want an intake only, that's perfectly fine and will work. An exhaust usually consists of wider piping, which helps exhaust gasses escape easier, which leads to a small performance increase. The header is the thing on the engine closest to you when you open the hood, it's the thing that kind of "sweeps" under the engine. The header later attaches to an exhaust, and provides similar performance gains. All are easy, and by far the most popular engine mods.

Yeah I meant like if I wanted more performance I'd have to replace my entire exhaust system or just the headers??

Search Function where you can find all the answers to your basic questions: https://www.hondacivicforum.com/forum/search.php

Header, Intake & Exhaust section (Review the stickies in that section, lots of great info there): https://www.hondacivicforum.com/foru...splay.php?f=12

you can't use an AEM V2 because the auto transmission is too big compared the the manual transmission. The AEM V2 routes the intake in front of the transmission as opposed to through the hole in the front right bulkhead like traditional cold air intakes.

search please, read the FAQs, etc.

Hey thanks for all the answers and help! I read all the sticky's and I feel like I got some GREAT information...but the only thing I saw is that it said CAIs and SRIs have a "more aggressive sound" sooo how much louder is it going to be? There was answer to that heh.
