Code 23 - Knock Sensor
Hello all,
Daughter took her '96 Civic with D16Y8 engine to get the safety/emissions sticker renewed. Test center told her it failed because theO2 sensor wasn't "ready".
When I looked I saw the CEL was on. I checked the code and got (23) Knock Sensor.
I'd hate to just start replacing expensive sensors.
Is it possible that the test centers computer mistook the O2 sensor for theknock sensor? Anything is possible but how likely is it?
Should I trust the cars computer or the test center's?
Thanks,
Bill

RE: Code 23 - Knock Sensor
Well it is the Knock Sensor. The plastic connector portion of the sensor broke off the metal portion.
Next question.
How in the world do you get to the sensor to replace it? Do you have to remove the intake manifold?
I've moved several brackets and wire bundles but it's impossible to get my fingers near it. Even if I get a socker on it I don't know if I could get the new one started.
Any advice is appreciated.
