My civics vin is not on the recall list but,the symptoms are identical. It appears to be a fairly easy diy.New switch $37.00 to my door.At this point,I'm going for it...stay tuned.

I've got an '04 LX with a Man Trans that just runs ruff (misfires) whenever it rains. Sounds like a similar issue, except I am not getting a CEL when it happens. It kind of seems like water is splashing into the intake plenum and putting out a fire... Not so sure it would work like that...

possible relay over heating
Does anyone know of a relay that may be overheating that would cause it not to start for 10-15 min after stopping......I replaced the main relay, that didn't work, tried the coil......?

no but i do know that starter solnoids can cause problems like that, they start one min and next min not, inside the starter are brushes and they get build up and it causes bad connections, the blower motor for your air also does the same thing, i take them apart and wd-40 them and clean the contact points and put it back together.

New starter switch
Got the new starter switch delivered today.Civic stalled twice on the way home as if it knew it's exorcist awaited it there.Installation was a piece of cake.Took it for a bit of a drive...no issues. We'll see what the next few days bring.Hopes are very high right now.Stay tuned.....

last call
Installed a new(used)ECM and after over one week of issue free driving,I think the problem is finally resolved.I have now personally installed or had installed,a new distributor,a new crank sensor (and timing belt, while we're in there) a new ignition switch and now a new(used)ECM for a grand total of around $450.Reasonable,no doubt in this day and age.
