Default cigarette lighter

My '96 Civic comes with a hole and a wiring lead for what appears to be the cigarette lighter. I like to install one just to be able to charge my cell phone or to plug in my adapter to play the dvd player. What do you suggest? Thanks.

goto te local junkyard and find a civic with a cigarette lighter in it and put it in your car, the wiring should already be there

I went to the Honda dealer and the parts guy told me the Civic is not wired for a cigarette lighter. Yes it has the hole and wiring but he said there is no lighter for the civic and do not recommend one unless I also change out the fuse/wiring.

nah u can wire one up to the constant 12v radio wire aka on aftermarket stereos its the yellow memory wire, and ground the other wire.

Is the hole near the cup holder? If it is, then you are missing accessory outlet. The civic didn't come with a lighter but it came with an acc plug. The cig lighter will pull more current than an attachment for a cell phone, ipod, etc. That is why the dealer recommended a higher amp fuse and thicker gauge wire for a lighter.

Thanks a bunch guys. Yes it's an accessory outlet. I went back to the same parts guy and this time he actually gave me the outlet. I went home and all plug in and screw on without a hitch. Now I can plug in my accessories. Thanks again and Happy New Year!
